Academic & Teaching Experience
Dr. Kharrazian has taught Functional Medicine, clinical nutrition, laboratory analysis, and functional neurology, both nationally and internationally, to thousands of healthcare professionals. He has developed both undergraduate and postgraduate educational programs for several institutions and universities and is frequently invited to major scientific and professional conferences.
Dr. Kharrazian is an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Preventive Medicine at Loma Linda University School of Medicine.
Research & Publications
As a researcher, Dr. Kharrazian earned a Doctor of Health Science (DHSc) and a PhD with concentrations in immunology and toxicology from the Department of Health Sciences at Nova Southeastern University. He completed his postdoctoral research training as a research fellow at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital. He also earned a Master of Medical Sciences (MMSc) degree in Clinical Investigation from Harvard Medical School.
He has published scientific papers in the fields of nutrition, autoimmunity, and toxicology, and is conducting research in autoimmune molecular mimicry and environmentally induced immune reactivity. In 2016, he was awarded Researcher of the Year by the International Association of Functional Neurology and Rehabilitation.
Dr. Kharrazian’s best-selling books have received numerous outstanding international reviews and have led to the development of the largest Facebook Hashimoto’s community. His books also led to the creation of a nonprofit patient-advocacy group to support thyroid patients from around the world.
Clinical Background & Education
As a preventive medicine healthcare provider, Dr. Kharrazian earned a Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) from Southern California University of Health Sciences and conducted postgraduate work in neurology. Dr. Kharrazian also earned a Master of Science (MS) in Human Nutrition from the University of Bridgeport.
